Broken brackets are inconvenient and troublesome, especially because they can delay the progress of your smile transformation. This is why it’s important to do all you can to improve the situation when you have broken a bracket. So, to help you do so, our Soudabeh Sharafi DMD orthodontic team encourages you to take the following steps:
–Step No. 1: Check out the damage. The first thing you need to do is see if the bracket still has contact with the wire. If it does, keep it in place and stabilize it by covering it with a piece of orthodontic wax. If it doesn’t, take the bracket out of your mouth and keep it in a safe place. Make sure to bring it with you to your next appointment. If the bracket slid out of place when it broke, move it back into position with a cotton swab.
–Step No. 2: Control the situation. If the broken bracket caused a wire to protrude out of place, clip the wire with some fingernail clippers if it’s bothering you. Try to clip the wire as close to the bracket as possible. This will prevent injury to your lips, cheeks, and tongue.
–Step No. 3: Make an appointment with Dr. Soudabeh Sharafi. The sooner you come into the office to get your bracket fixed, the sooner you’ll get back on track toward the beautiful and stunning smile you deserve.
Doing these things will help you stay on track toward your perfect smile.
