Misaligned and overcrowded teeth can leave your son or daughter feeling self-conscious about their smile. It’s also worth noting that an unaddressed underbite, overbite or abnormal spacing between multiple teeth can affect their oral function and could lead to dental complications.

If your child has misaligned teeth, you should consider setting up a consultation with our dentist. Once Dr. Soudabeh Sharafi has assessed the severity of their alignment issue, she will present you with an effective treatment plan.

In many of these cases, our dentist will recommend traditional braces to correct their misaligned teeth. After the components have been installed in their mouth, your son or daughter will need to return to Soudabeh Sharafi DMD for periodic adjustments.

These sessions are intended to apply a small amount of tension to the periodontal ligaments that anchor their teeth in place. In time, the adjustments will gradually bring their teeth into their ideal alignment.

The appointments are also an opportunity to repair or replace any orthodontic components that might have suffered some excess wear and tear.

Consistent timing is also an important component of the realignment process. If you are aware of a scheduling conflict with an adjustment appointment, please call us as soon as possible to set up an alternate time.

If you live in the San Diego, California, region and your child has issues with the alignment of their teeth, you should call 858-259-1400 to schedule a braces consultation with Dr. Soudabeh Sharafi.
